Tips for a COVIDSafe Journey

Ola is committed to maintaining the health and safety of our riders and drivers and to provide a safe and quality service to minimise the risk of acquiring coronavirus (COVID-19). Both riders and drivers play an important role in ensuring their own safety and the safety of one another. Each and every trip must be safe. We have compiled a list of tips to ensure that riders are doing their bit to ensure maximum safety for themselves and the drivers.

  • Always wear a face covering (mask) when you enter the vehicle unless you have a valid medical reason or exemption which may prevent you from doing so.
  • Ensure that you are physically distancing where possible. If you are travelling alone, sit in the back seat as far away from the driver as you can. Remember: a driver can refuse to take a fourth person in the front seat to ensure that they are complying with these physical distancing requirements.
  • If there is a QR code in the vehicle, scan it. This makes it easier for contact tracers in the event that either yourself or the driver was positive during the trip.
  • Wash your hands before and after a journey where possible.
  • Practise good hygiene and always ensure to sanitise before you get into the vehicle and as you are getting out of the vehicle.
  • Refrain from unnecessarily touching surfaces in the vehicle where possible – this will reduce the risk that you may come into contact with the virus.
  • If you feel sick or develop symptoms, please get tested and do not take a ride until you are cleared or out of isolation.
  • If you need to sneeze or cough, please do so in your mask and tuck your face into your arm to avoid spreading any germs.

We have also prepared another comprehensive resource relating to passenger guidelines for maintaining hygiene for COVID-19.

Together, we can all do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19. For more information, please visit the World Health Organization’s Advice for the public: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
