Deliveries FAQs

As we continue to face challenges from COVID-19, we have been committed to seeking new opportunities that can support both our drivers and riders. To do this we are excited to announce the arrival of our new service – Ola Deliveries.

This means we have now expanded our existing services by partnering with local and national merchants for our drivers to deliver goods including food, groceries, pet food, alcohol and parcels for our customers.

With this new service, our drivers will be able to start taking delivery rides straight away all from the same app. Plus, for each delivery completed our drivers will keep 85% of the fare – the same as any other ride.

Drivers can learn more about this new service below.

Picking up items

The App will differentiate between Delivery pick up and a Passenger pick up. You can operate across both ride types.

No, you can choose between a Passenger pick up or a Delivery. Our app will serve you both Rider and Delivery requests.

At the moment you cannot opt-in or out for Delivery rides.

Ola ANZ recently expanded its existing services to include the delivery of goods including food and groceries, alcohol and parcels.

If you can’t find the pick-up point for delivery, please park the vehicle safely, turn off the ignition and call the merchant (where the job was issued from) directly. The merchant is responsible for directing you to their location.

Delivering items

In the same way you would deliver a passenger service.  You will be able to differentiate between a passenger pick up and a goods pick up on the Ola App. Check out this how to video  for more information.

All Drivers must comply with hygiene and vehicle disinfectant practices and maintain contact free delivery services when delivering goods, alcohol or parcels. This means all goods must be placed outside the customer’s home and you will need to knock/ring the doorbell standing 1.5m away from the customer when they are collecting their package.

The merchant is responsible for packaging and labelling and placing the goods in your car.  The merchant may ask you for help in placing the goods in your car. If the customer complains to you about the goods, please direct them to the merchant.

If you can’t find the destination address, you will need to call the merchant to verify the customer’s address. If the merchant cannot provide you with the customer’s address, and you have the customer’s phone number, you may call the customer to attempt delivery at the right address/location.

If the merchant or customer is unable to provide you with a delivery address, you will have to return the goods to the merchant.  You will be paid the normal rate card for the return of the goods.

Please wait up to 1 min to allow customers time to get to the door and pick up their delivery before you decide to leave.

Yes for all items except Alcohol. All Alcohol deliveries must be received by the customer or else they must be returned to the merchant.

You need to call the merchant and return the goods to the merchant.

You need to direct the customer to the merchant to arrange a return with the merchant.  You are not expected to return the goods to the merchant.

If the customer does not answer the door or the doorbell, you must leave the goods in a safe place and take a photo of the goods to then send to partner care – be sure to include the delivery name and address in your picture – this will be labelled on the package from the merchant: care.australia@olacabs.com

Yes, the return trip will be paid as part of the normal trip.

Am I expected to carry heavy items?

You may be required to deliver bulky items such as pet food.  These items can come in larger sizes, but you are only expected to carry single items weighing up to 20kg maximum for each package drop off.

No, as long as you’re an existing Ola driver, you can start delivering goods straight away.

You are only expected to drop off goods that would ordinarily fit in a sedan sized vehicle. You will not be asked to deliver goods that are unable to fit in the average sized car.
